A CHARITY for the elderly is engaging with minority communities in Lancashire to address health and nutrition issues.

Age Concerns in the North West is celebrating the first anniversary of its Fit as a Fiddle campaign, funded by the National Lottery.

The campaign has seen hundreds of older people across the county enjoy healthier, more active lives.

Linda Lanson, the Fit as a Fiddle Co-ordinator, is delighted that the scheme’s first year has been so successful.

She said: “The Fit as a Fiddle scheme has given older people across the North West opportunities to live more active lives, which is fantastic.

“Aside from the benefits of lower blood pressure and reduced risk of strokes and heart attacks, the scheme has given many people a new lease of life.”

Age Concerns in the North West plans to introduce further initiatives.
