A GOLBORNE man was found dead and lying in a pool of blood at a Cheshire beauty spot.

Walkers enjoying a stroll in the upmarket area of Alderley Edge discovered the body of 36 years-old father-of-four Rodney Marsh, of Charles Street, Golborne.

The former Golborne Comprehensive School pupil died from severe head injuries caused by a vicious attack according to post mortem results.

Labourer Mr Marsh's was last seen driving his Nissan Skyline car in Manchester on Wednesday, February 25 – the day before his body was found. The vehicle was parked a short distance away in Finlow Hill Lane, off Macclesfield Road.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: "Officers are currently examining footage from closed circuit television and are keen to identify anybody who was in the area of Macclesfield Road near to The Wizard of Edge restaurant on the evening of Wednesday February 25 and the morning of Thursday February 26."

•Three people have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. They are a 41 years-old man and a 31 years-old woman from Golborne and a 25 years-old man from Wigan.
