Motorists are being advised to avoid part of Manchester city centre due to flooding.
At about 5.30am, police were informed that Whitworth Street in the Gay Village was severely flooded and the road may be in danger of collapsing.
Whitworth Street has been closed and access roads Marlborough Street and Wakefield Street have also been closed.
An engineer is en route to the scene but the roads are expected to remain closed for some time.
Motorists are advised to find alternative routes.
