Three people escaped after an arson attack on a house in Salford.

Around 7.20pm last Friday, police were called to Mackenzie Road, Lower Kersal, following reports of a fire.

The fire service put the fire out and an investigation revealed the cause of the fire was deliberate.

There were three people in the house at the time of the fire but all managed to get out without suffering any injuries.

It is believed the offender set fire to a curtain through a broken window in the front room of the house.

The offender was not seen so no description is available.

Detective Constable Phil Anderson of Salford CID said: "This is being treated as arson with intent to endanger life.

"The curtain was deliberately set alight and had the people inside the house not gone to check the noise there could have been a much worse outcome.

"If you saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area please get in touch."
