BURY Adult Care Services has launched a new service to help older people continue living independently in their own home.

The service is an extension of Bury Council’s existing sheltered housing warden service which provides support to older people who live in the community.

The new scheme, called Support at Home, is aimed at reducing isolation by making regular visits and contact to people over the age of 60.

Pat Jones-Greenhalgh, Bury’s executive director of adult care services, said: “This is an excellent new service that shows the council’s commitment to modernising services.”
