Two Conservative councillors resign

CONSERVATIVE councillors Bob Bibby and Jim Taylor have resigned from Bury Council.
The pair stood down this morning after each serving as councillors for more than a decade.
Mr Bibby had indicated to the Bury Times in June that he was considering stepping down due to ill health.
He represented Church ward since May 1999 and has been the leader of Bury Council.
Mr Taylor was elected to represent the North Manor ward in May 2000.
The pair were the subject of allegations of corruption earlier this year, regarding a planning application for 200 homes and a warehouse in Bury Road, Radcliffe.
They were both detained at their home in Booth Road, Bacup, and vehemently denied any wrong-doing .
After an investigation, police decided to take no further action.
Both councillors were due to face re-election in 2014.
A date has not yet been set for by-elections for the two seats.
