RHIAN Sugden’s mum spoke of her pride and relief after the glamour girl was voted out of the Celebrity Big Brother house.

The Radcliffe model became the third housemate to be evicted from the Channel 5 show, on Wednesday evening.

Anita Sugden, who spoke to her daughter on the phone on Thursday morning, said: “She is glad to be out and I’m thankful for her to be out now. We can relax.

“I think it will get a bit rough going now (in the house).

“They seem to be getting more bitchy.

“It was such a relief when she came out.

“She said the situation she was in was hard, she wanted to have more fun but she couldn’t be herself because she didn’t want to act as though she was egging Ashley on.

“It held her back from letting herself go.

“She’s kind-hearted and she hasn’t really slagged anybody off. ”

When the 25-year-old was up for eviction in the first week, her mother and family hit the phones to vote to keep her in the house.

But speaking of this eviction, Mrs Sugden said: “I hung back a bit because I could see she was getting upset and she did say a couple of times I want to go home, I’ve had enough.”

Speaking of her daughter’s post-eviciton interview with Big Brother host, Brian Dowling, and on Big Brother's Bit On The Side, she said: “We were so proud of her because she acts so professional.

“She came across really well. She was really calm, she gave really good answers to the questions asked to her by the audience and the phone calls. She wasn’t nervous.

“They all applauded her and seemed to agree.”

Rhian, who went to Coney Green High School, was at the centre of Radio 1 DJ Vernon Kay’s sex-text scandal after the married father-of-two admitted he sent racy messages to the model in 2010, as well as other women.

Mrs Sugden said: “She went in to be labelled with something different so hopefully now she is a glamour girl and Big Brother housemate.

“She’s in a great frame of mind and she’s ready for her photo shoots and interviews.”

And Mrs Sugden rubbished claims her daughter’s boyfriend had snubbed her due to flirting with fellow housemate, Olympian Ashley McKenzie.

She said: “He was waiting for her at the hotel.

“She hasn’t been going with (her boyfriend) that long.

“Why flaunt it all over the tele when it’s only been a month or so?

“I think she might be home at the weekend.”
