Coffee a treat for Fairtrade Fortnight

FAIRTRADE coffee made in Uganda proved a hit with visitors to Bury Unitarian Church.

The Delicious Peace coffee is produced in a joint venture between Christians, Jews and Muslims and was imported to Bury via North Carolina in the USA.

Visitors enjoyed the drink during a coffee morning held on Wednesday last week to celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight.

All the refreshments were fairly traded, including homemade cakes using Fairtrade ingredients. Fairtrade items were on sale at a Traidcraft stall and up for grabs in a raffle.

The event raised £177.

Organiser Anne Mills said: “Our Delicious Peace coffee arrived safely and was greatly appreciated, both for its taste and for its ethos. Indeed, several people have asked whether we can buy more of this coffee and I am hoping to send off an order shortly.”
