A MOTORIST has been fined £150 after being convicted of driving without due care and attention.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Nasir Mehmood, aged 31, of Andrew Street, Bury, denied committing the offence, while driving a Skoda Superb Estate on Jubilee Way on November 15 last year, but was found guilty after a trial.

In addition to the fine, Mehmood was ordered to pay £250 in compensation plus £650 in costs and charges. Six penalty points were added to his licence.

A CONDITIONAL discharge for 12 months has been handed to a man who fraudulently claimed to undertake gardening work for a £250 payment.

David Duffy, aged 54, of Warwick Street, Prestwich, denied fraud but was convicted at Manchester Magistrates’ Court.

He was also ordered to pay £330 in costs and charges.

A RADCLIFFE company has been fined £800 for twice failing to give police the details of an Audi A4 driver suspected of committing offences on August 4 and September 14 last year.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Lancs Transmissions Ltd, of Halfway Service Station, Bury and Bolton Road, Radcliffe, pleaded guilty.

In addition to the fine, the company was also ordered to pay £125 in costs and charges.

A SHOPLIFTER who stole a Toshiba television, worth £350, from Tesco in Bury, on March 2 has been fined £450 by Manchester magistrates.

Adam Watson, aged 39, of Parnham Close, Radcliffe, pleaded guilty to committing the offence.

He was also ordered to pay £130 in costs and charges.

A MAN who admitted being drunk and disorderly in a Bury bar has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months.

Manchester magistrates heard how James Smith, aged 25, of Ampleforth Gardens, Radcliffe, committed the offence on May 3 at Rainors Bar in Market Street.

He was also ordered to pay £80 in costs and charges.

A SHOPLIFTER has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months.

At Manchester Magistrates Court Nathan Duckworth, aged 28, of Whitefield Road, Bury, admitted stealing speakers from HMV in Bury, chocolates from Home Bargains and soft drinks from The Food Store.

Duckworth as also ordered to pay £70 in compensation.

MAGISTRATES have jailed a man for 30 weeks after he pleaded guilty to going to Kingfisher Drive, Bury, on June 7, in breach of a restraining order.

Shane Crossland, aged 43, of Thrush Drive, Bury, also admitted possessing cannabis and being in breach of a suspended prison sentence.

The court ordered him to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

DRINK driver has been banned from holding a licence for three years.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Michael Cropper, aged 42, of Near Hey Close, Radcliffe, pleaded guilty to committing the offence while driving a VW Tourag on Wash Lane, Bury, on May 16.

He was also fined £740 and ordered to pay £159 in costs and charges.

A MOTORIST has been fined £160 after he admitted driving without due care and attention and with no insurance.

Manchester magistrates heard how Ben Mulligan, aged 24, of Walker Avenue, Whitefield, drove a Nissan Juke in Lightbowne Road, Moston on December 1 last year.

Mulligan was also ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges and six penalty points were added to his licence.
