BURY District Citizens Advice celebrated two years in its new building at a belated birthday party with a creative edge.

The organisation held an open morning for other local community organisations and business to mark the move to St John’s House building at The Rock.

It was forced to move following devastating floods in 2015, which left its former Radcliffe offices uninhabitable.

The celebrations were given a creative edge as Belvoir Lettings Bury and Citizens Advice collaborated to update unused billboards around the outside of the building’s ground floor. A group of talented art and design students from Bury College designed two bright and colourful graphics boards representing the Citizens Advice, Healthwatch and Bury Law Centre housed in the building.

Dave Bevitt, Chief Officer, said: “Now more than ever in the charity sector we need to work together with our partners in the community and it has been great to see those people here in the building today. After the new billboard design was revealed, attendees had the opportunity to look around the building to see what Citizens Advice does on a daily basis. The charity helps Bury residents with all kinds of issues, including debt and benefits advice, and receives no central funding to provide these services.

“It relies on a team of volunteers and externally funded advice workers to help the most vulnerable in society. New volunteers are always very welcome and anyone who is interested in supporting Citizens Advice in any way should get in touch via the website.”
