SUPERJOSH founder Dawn Fidler brings you her latest blog

ON Friday last week, we held our Mad Hatters Tea Party at The Village Hotel, which was a huge success.

In the space of a few hours, we raised £2,070 which will be used to purchase specialist communication equipment for the children's wards at North Manchester General and Royal Oldham Hospitals.

Barbara Rossington, paediatrics team leader for speech and language therapy for the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, who attended the lunch said: "I would like to say a massive thank you to Dawn, SuperJosh and all the wonderful, generous ladies I met on Friday.

"Their contribution will help give children on the paediatric wards a voice at a time when they are at their most vulnerable. It is a remarkable gift giving children and their families a means to communicate either simple messages like 'I want a cuddle' to more complex language. Thank you so much."

I couldn't believe it when Barbara, who was my Josh's SLT, contacted us to ask for help, explaining there were no communication devices at all on the children's wards on either hospital.

I know how vitally important these are and we just had to help, a big team effort, thank you so much, ladies!

We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who donated fantastic raffle and auction prizes, to the events team at The Village for their hard work and help in setting up such a wonderful event, to the team at Eye Catching for donating so many amazing props, Gordon and the team at Bespoke Landscapes and Grono Artificial Grass in Trafford Park for their generous donation of the astro turf.

The whole room looked amazing thanks to all your efforts!

This Sundayn we are holding our car boot sale on the car park at The Village Hotel. Set up is from 8am, and trading starts 9am to noon. We have limited spaces available for purchase via our online shop at joshwilson.org.uk/shop

Car pitches are £10, vans £15. This is a great way to have a summer clear-out, or pick up an amazing bargain. All proceeds raised from pitch sales come to Josh’s charity.

As well as supporting families in their home and hospitals this week, we are helping with the annual Royal Manchester Children Hospital Ward 84 Party this Sunday in Manchester for 500 children and their families who are, or have been on the ward.

It is a very emotional and super special day.

My Josh's photo will, of course, be in the Angel room with all the other superhero children and young people who have sadly passed away from the monsters that are brain tumours and cancer.

We are donating 200 SuperJosh cupcakes, selfie boards, face painting and balloon modelling.

This week we have also been filming a documentary about the charity and how we help our families.

It will be launched in August for our fourth birthday and what would have been Josh's 17th.

And will be Josh's Birthday gift helping so many in his legacy. It's going to be really special, we look forward to sharing it with everyone.

You can donate to The Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity by simply texting SJBT13 followed by £1, £2, £5 or £10 to 70070.
