MODERN technology presents a chance to develop modern teaching.

An event at Bury College brought together teachers from across the borough to improve their teaching practises.

The Teach Meet Bury included presentations on creative uses for iPads, how to develop independence and promoting writing through music.

The event was organised by Emma Platt, assistant headteacher at Philips High School, Whitefield, who was inspired after spotting similar events through social media.

She said the information shared would go on the benefit children across Bury.

Marc Anderson and Hywel Roberts, author of Oops! Helping Children Learn Accidentally, gave speeches on utilising social media within teaching practises.

Bury College media students filmed and photographed the event and will use the imagery for their portfolios while catering students provided front of house service and refreshments.

Hywel Roberts, said: "I really enjoyed tonight and the range of presentations. The Bury College Hospitality students, who worked at the event were extremely professional and a great credit to the college."

Daniel Holloway, aged 17, is a level three media student, he said: "I have loved filming and photographing tonight’s event and utilising all our ideas. It is great to be part of a live event."
