BURY Old Road has been reopened after a "suspected package" found on a bus was deemed non-suspicious.
The road was closed in Prestwich in both directions between Scholes Lane and Middleton Road.
Shortly after 5.50pm today police were called after a suspicious bag was discovered on a bus in Bury Old Road.
The bus was evacuated and a cordon put in place.
The Jewish Telegraph, which has offices in the road, has now reported that the package allegedly contained deodorant, trainers, socks and two lighters.

Chief Inspector Mark Dexter of GMP’s Spec Ops said: “Officers from the Specialist Operations Team supported by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue staff worked quickly to examine the bag and concluded that the contents were not suspicious.
“We are conscious that people will be concerned following the events in London, there is nothing to indicate that this incident was anything sinister.”
Drivers are warned that there is a substantial backlog of traffic in the area.
