THE Met enjoyed its most successful January in history following the completion of its major refurbishment.
Following the restoration of the 19th century building project that took nine months to complete, The Met opened its doors in December to huge acclaim from the public and performers.
David Agnew, artistic director of The Met, said: “Our refurbishment has had the impact we have hoped for – artists and increasing audiences enjoying a fantastic venue. Feedback has been incredible both from existing audiences and artists and the new larger audiences we are now able to accommodate. Finally we have a venue that meets our ambition to bring excellent arts and music to Bury and welcome audiences from throughout the region.”
Victoria Robinson, chief executive of The Met, added: “We are now in a position to start to reflect upon the successes of this project, which has taken a huge commitment from the team at The Met and support from The Arts Council, Bury Council, the professional team and all the trusts and foundations that have made it possible.”
