RESIDENTS and councillors are delighted at news the 478 bus service is reinstated.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has decided to bring back the service from October 31 after concerns were raised about accessibility to the town.

Service 478 covers Bury to Ramsbottom via Nuttall Lane, Brandlesholme and Woodhill.

It was initially introduced in January 2016 following the Kay Bridge collapse due to flooding, however, these journeys were withdrawn on September 5 2016 because of low passenger numbers.

TfGM, which subsidises this service, recently consulted with councillors and listened to feedback from local residents. It was noted that due to the rural nature of the area people rely on public transport to make necessary journeys. Cllr Ian Bevan said: “I am very pleased at this positive response from TfGM and Rosso Buses and that the services will be reinstated.”
