FLYING Scotsman returned to the East Lancashire Railway at the weekend – and you sent us some fantastic pictures of the famous engine.

The A3 Pacific locomotive was back on the line to celebrate the opening of the new station at Burrs Country Park.

The heritage railway’s seventh calling point enables visitors to the country park to board steam and diesel services to Heywood, Bury, Summerseat, Ramsbottom, Irwell Vale and Rawtenstall.

It was something of a homecoming for Flying Scotsman, which was underwent extensive restoration at Riley and Son engineers in Bury to enable it to return to mainline service.

Spectators lined the trackside at the weekend to catch a glimpse of the loco, which has been painted in its old British Rail green livery and number 60103.
