CHRISTMAS is really going to be rocking in Bury this year!

It's that time again for talented youngsters to show us their festive flare — and this year we are launching a Christmas competition with a difference.

We have teamed up with The Rock to find one lucky winner who will launch the shopping centre's festivities — by designing a rocket which will help bring Santa Claus to the town.

The winning Rock It With Santa design will feature on a giant screen at The Rock on November 26, as part of the festive parade which will feature elves, a gingerbread man and stilt walkers, as well as the Royal Regiment of Lancashire Fusiliers Band and Corps of Drums, led by Santa on his rocket.

The event also marks the opening of The Rock’s new grotto, which has a bigger and better design with a gingerbread men and candy cane theme.

Following the parade, there will be activities for all the family including Christmas card making, gingerbread men decorating and present wrapping in aid of The Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity.

There will also be an elf giving free sleigh rides and the competition winner will ride on the sleigh during the parade.

The winner will also get the first visit to Santa in the Grotto including a photo and gift as well as a £50 toy bundle from The Entertainer.

The winner and runner up will also have their designs printed as Christmas cards by Impression (Bolton) Ltd, to send to their friends and family, as well as chocolate Santas from Slattery in Whitefield. The runner up will also receive a £25 toy bundle from The Entertainer.

To enter, all you need to do is draw a design for your rocket on the template, which you can also download and print off from our website. Just click here - rock it with santa-logosFINAL2016.pdf

Your rocket can be made using paints, coloured pencils, or felt-tip pens. Don't forget to make it really festive and add Santas and reindeer if you wish!

A selection of the best designs will be printed in a special supplement on November 10 when readers will be able to vote for their favourites by text, or by phone. The winner will be the design with the most votes.

The competition is open to children aged four to 11.

Once you have finished your design, fill in the details on the form and send it to Rock It With Santa Competition, Editorial Department, Bury and Radcliffe Times, The Wellsprings, Civic Centre, Bolton, BL1 1AR, by October 31.

Usual Newsquest rules apply. They can be viewed at burytimes.co.uk/terms

The winner will be announced at the end of November.
