A SENIOR reporter from The Bolton News has been nominated for two top journalism awards following a three-year investigation into a councillor who failed to pay council tax.

Dale Haslam has been nominated for ‘Scoop of The Year’ at the O2 Media Awards, as well as ‘Weekly Newspaper Reporter’.

Mr Haslam led a three-year legal battle by The Bolton News into the non-payment of council tax by Bolton councillor, Ismail Ibrahim.

He also contributes to The Bolton News’ weekly sister titles: The Prestwich and Whitefield Guide, The Bury Times and The Post.

The O2 Awards in the North West are the biggest regional press awards of the year.

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on November 10 at Chester Racecourse.

BBC Breakfast presenter, Louise Minchin, will host the evening’s celebrations.

Nicola Green from at O2 UK said: “Selecting the shortlisted nominees this year was particularly difficult as the standards were so high.

“The presentation evening will be a celebration of some superb journalism and a reminder of how important the regional media is to local communities.”
