A RECORD number of budding doctors celebrated their success at Bury Grammar School Girls last week.

For the first time in the school’s history, three students achieved their lifelong ambition to claim a place at medical school.

Head Girl Katie Parton is to go to the University of Newcastle, Sarah Ramadan has a place at St George’s London, which is renowned for its concentration on A & E, and Hadis Reyhani is to study in Brighton.

Katie, from Tottington, got an A*, two As, and a B and told the Bury Times: “Right now it feels like such a relief after weeks of waiting around and thinking about it.

“It’s so nice to open my results here with my friends because the school is such a great community.

“The teachers here are great at nurturing you.

“Newcastle is a really good university and a lovely city, so I am really looking forward to going there.”

Sarah, from Rochdale, gained three A grades in Biology, Chemistry and Geography.

She said: “Trying to get a place at medical school takes such a lot of work and I am so relieved that it has all worked out.”
