ONE of the borough’s biggest firms is moving its base to Rochdale and investing in its Bury factory.

In 2014, Europe’s largest car-care company Tetrosyl announced it would relocate its base from Bevis Green in Walmersley, with 80 office staff moving to the new site. Tetrosyl plans to sell the Walmersley site to fund an 18-month redevelopment of its manufacturing plant in Bridge Hall, Bury, with new equipment.

Bury Council has already granted outline planning permission for houses to be built on the Walmersley site and major housebuilders have expressed interest in snapping it up.

Tetrosyl is behind brands such as T-Cut, Triplewax and CarPlan and does business worldwide.

Its new headquarters will be at the seven-storey Newgate House in Rochdale — a building last fully occupied in 2011 when the Department for Work and Pensions was the lead tenant.

Tetrosyl has spent £1 million buying and refurbishing the site, which will host sales staff, a research and technical development centre and a large showroom to display products.

The company said Bury Council had been exceptionally supportive and the new Bridge Hall facility would be the cornerstone of its ongoing growth and success.

Tetrosyl chairman Peter Schofield said: “I am proud of the fact that Tetrosyl has its roots very firmly in Bury and the North West where it has been able to grow and develop for more than 60 years, from a small business to the international corporation it is now.

“The investment we are making in new and improved premises and equipment will further accelerate our performance as the leading supplier of car-care products in Europe.

“We are proud of our heritage and that brand-leading products will continue to be made in Bury well into the future.

“We have an excellent manufacturing base situated at Bridge Hall in Bury that will be further expanded, creating a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility that will serve the company, its employees and Bury for many years into the future.”
