BIG names including Gaz Coombes and Fun Lovin’ Criminals have been announced for this year’s Ramsbottom Festival.

The event, which returns for its sixth year, will run from Friday, September 16, to Sunday, September 18, at Ramsbottom Cricket Ground.

Coombes, best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist for Supergrass, will headline the Saturday night, and Fun Lovin’ Criminals will be the main act on the Sunday.

Also confirmed for the Friday night are Julian Cope and The Slow Readers Club, who return after a fantastic set last year, and on Saturday the line-up includes The Selecter, The Travelling Band, experimental indie trio Animal Noise, 2015 favourites New York Tourists, and Cattle & Cane.

On Sunday, Gordie Mackeeman and his Rhythm Boys will be playing, alongside Duke Special, foot-stomping folk rock duo Sound of the Sirens, and classic blues rock three piece Wille and the Bandits. Lynched and Rusty Shackle will also be performing on the Sunday.

In addition, the festival will feature family arts from Kilter Theatre, Nutkhut, Copperdollar and a new circus theatre show from Acrojou, who wowed the crowds last year.

Tickets are on sale now for the event, which is organised by The Met in association with The Bridgewater Hall. More acts, including a headliner for the Friday, will be announced in the coming months.

David Agnew, artistic director at The Met, said: "The programme has grown each year and we are really excited to have some real quality headliners this year.

"Every day will feature some of the best up and coming artists and musicians and we also have a great arts programme that I'm really looking forward to seeing.

"We are hoping to have the remaining programme completed by the end of May and we are determined to make it the best it can be."

Ticket prices start at £26 for a day ticket and £65 for a weekend ticket, with discounts for children and families, while youngsters under the age of six go free. There are a limited number of tickets available at this price, with the next wave arriving at an increased price on July 1.

Pitches on the festival campsite are available for £18 per night or £39 for the whole weekend.
