POLICE have released a photo of a man they want to speak to after a pensioner's purse was stolen in Bury.
Shortly after 10am on Thursday, March 24, a 66-year-old woman was leaving Aldi on Bell Lane when a man approached her from behind and stole her purse from inside her bag.
The woman noticed her purse was gone when a man who witnessed the incident started to shout at the thief. The offender then handed back the purse before making off.
Police Constable Gavin Brien of GMPs Bury division said, “On this occasion the offender was stopped and the woman’s purse was returned, however someone else may not be so fortunate.
“We want to identify the man in the photo in connection with the incident. The photo is incredibly clear, so if you recognise the man, I would urge you to contact the police.”
