BURY Magistrates Court was evacuated this morning after the fire alarm went off when a staff member burnt their toast.
Whitefield Fire attended the scene at 11am on Thursday, where everyone – including defendants at the court – were stood outside the building.
Crews went to inspect the room which had triggered the alarm, only to find that someone had left their breakfast in the toaster a little too long.
Crew manager Eddie Dorrington said: “When we found the cause, we ventilated the area and once we checked everything we came some advice to the person who was responsible.
“Needless to say there were some rather embarrassed faces about.”
