YOU’d be forgiven for thinking this glamorous hairdresser’s is based at a hip Manchester location or tucked away inside a boutique London hotel.

In fact, Doll’s House is on Bury Market.

The interior features shocking pink chairs, satin ceiling drapes, ornate chandeliers and mirrors, while on the outside, a wall has been adorned with eye-catching artwork by local graffiti artist Nathan Whitehead, aka Dirty Faces.

This swish new part of the business has only been open a a few weeks, but Lizelle Bramall started her company three years ago, with just three seats, next door.

“It was a pet shop when I bought it in 2012, so I started of like that, and took on apprentices,” said Lizelle.

“But we needed to get bigger by pubic demand, so we expanded into next door.

“One side is now for nails and waxing, and the other is for hairdressing.”

The response from customers has been very positive, and passers-by often do a double-take when they spot the salon.

“It has made people stop and look”, said Lizelle.

“It’s going fantastically well, and the response has been amazing.

“We offer a no-wait system, so you don’t always need an appointment.”

A wash, cut and blow-dry is available from just £18, and Doll’s House has built up a great reputation for complete make-overs, with full colouring services _ whether it’s going from black to cerise, blonde to purple or something more sedate _ as well as weaved-in extensions.

On Saturdays, there’s often a queue outside the door for eyebrow waxing and tinting _ which is Lizelle’s own speciality.

A trained hairdresser, she also employs a highly creative nail technician and hard-working apprentice hair stylists Dylan Thompson and Sarah Lomax, as well as part-time hairdressers Tanya Tomlinson and Lynsey Riley.

Lizelle says she likes employing single mum hairdressers _ having been a single mum of three.

“I like giving somebody a break and help single mums back to work, because I know how hard it is,” said Lizelle.

As for the future, Lizelle hopes to offer a glass of something special alongside a new hairdo, nails or eyebrows, to complete the pampering experience...

“I eventually want to apply for an alcohol licence, and have a bar area in the back of the salon.

“It would mean we could do Prosecco Fridays, and cocktail Saturdays...

“That’s the next step.”
