THE candidates for next month’s Tottington by-election have been announced.
The seat was vacated after former councillor Simon Carter resigned ahead of being sentenced for making indecent images of children.
Earlier this month Carter, 53, was ordered to serve a three year community order by a judge at Bolton Crown Court.
The candidates for the by-election on October 22 are:
• David Foss (Liberal Democrats)
• Martin Hayes (Labour Party)
• Ian Henderson (UK Independence Party (UKIP)
• Greg Keeley (The Conservative Party Candidate)
• John Southworth (The Green Party)
Polling booths will be open on election day from 7am to 10pm. Anyone who has not registered for postal voting, but would like a postal vote, should call 0161 253 5252. Applications must be returned by October 7.
