A TRIP to a military hospital and a museum provided the inspiration for members and volunteers of Bury Gateway to create their own World War One-themed artwork.
Around 20 pieces, embracing patchworks, embroideries and paintings, were unveiled at the Mosses Centre in Cecil Street, Bury, where Gateway is based.
The organisation offers the opportunity for people with learning disabilities to meet socially and to develop friendships.
Around 30 members of the public, including ex-soldiers and a representative from the town's Fusilier Museum, visited last Friday's exhibition. The centrepiece patchwork piece will remain on display.
Adam Butterworth, Bury Gateway project co-ordinator, said earlier visits to the Stamford Military Hospital National Trust site at Dunham Massey and the Imperial War Museum had helped inspire the 15 members and volunteers who created the artwork over a four-month period.
"We were also able to make sure that Bury's connection with the Fusiliers and Gallipoli was put into the artwork," he added.
