A MAN who damaged a car and a wall has been ordered to pay £3,000 for repairs and compensation.
Matthew Wood, aged 25, of Wellington Square, Bury, took a Mercedes Vito without the owner's consent on April 27 and drove it in Bury.
He crashed into a parked car and a brick wall in Buller Street and drove off without providing insurance details.
Wood appeared before Bury magistrates on July 31 and admitted driving without a licence or insurance, taking a vehicle without the owner's consent and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.
At a further hearing last Thursday, Wood was ordered to carry out 140 hours of unpaid work.
He must also pay £300 compensation to the damaged vehicle's owner, £300 to repair the Mercedes and £2,400 to the owner of the damaged wall.
Wood was also banned from driving for a year.
