UNSUNG heroines will be celebrated once again as Bury prepares to crown its next Woman of the Year.

Nominations are now open for the annual ceremony, which will be held at the Bolholt Country Park Hotel on Thursday October 15.

The awards night, organised by Bury Hospice, will honour winners in three different categories as well as an overall winner.

In the Carer category, nominations are sought for someone who cares for one person or many - be it neighbours, friends, family members, or foster children. A person from a caring profession, such as a nurse or doctor, whose extraordinary commitment to others is over and above the normal call of duty can also be put forward.

The Volunteer category is seeking nominees showing remarkable selflessness, devotion and service to the Bury community. Their volunteering can be in aid of any organisation or cause in the area, but their contribution must be above and beyond the norm and their story exemplary.

The Business/Professional/Entrepreneur will celebrate female corporate talent, ability and achievement. A nominee should be an exceptional businesswoman, professional or entrepreneur working in or representing the Bury borough that has made a fundamental contribution to the success and development of their particular organisation or field of expertise.

All nominations must be submitted by Wednesday September 30, and entries can be sent either by e-mail to pbyrom@buryhospice.org.uk or by post to Pam Byrom, Bury Hospice Fundraising Office, Rochdale Old Road, Bury, BL9 7RG.

The Ladies Luncheon ceremony, which will include a surprise guest speaker, will be held from 11am to 4pm at the hotel in Walshaw Road.
