FIVE organisations combined to stage a successful Bury Community Eid Fayre.
The event, held at the town's Polish Centre, was organised jointly by Bury Carers Centre, Asian Development Association of Bury, Bury Parents Forum, Jinnah Centre and Bury Asian Women's Centre. They got together to celebrate Eid and to promote their services as well as providing support and advice to the community.
Organisers said the event was a "huge success" with more than 160 people attending. Attractions included funfair rides, various stalls, henna painting, a raffle, Asian food and entertainment by Iftikhar Ahmed.
Special guests were Bury South MP Ivan Lewis, councillors Joan Grimshaw, Shaheena Haroon and Tamoor Tariq together with Lynne Stafford, chief executive of the
Gaddum Centre in Manchester which provides service to the disadvantaged.
Ummrana Farooq, Bury Carers Centre co-ordinator, said: "Well done to all who participated. It was a great teamwork effort from all organisations."
Anyone who would like advice or support from any of these organisations can contact Bury Carers Centre in Silver Street, call 0161 763 4867, or email
