A BIRTHDAY party to celebrate Joshua Wilson's legacy has helped highlight the staggering success of a brain tumour charity which bears his name.

More than 80 people gathered at Bury's Village Hotel for the event to mark the second birthday of the Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity, which was originally launched in 2013 to mark the boy's 13th birthday. Sadly, he died last November.

The weekend "Super Josh" birthday party saw youngsters dress up in a variety of superhero costumes, while there was a disco, barbecue, face painting and other entertainment. Among those attending were three players from basketball team Lancashire Spinners which has supported the Bury youngster and his charity.

Since its launch two years ago, the Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity has raised a remarkable £330,000 through fundraising events and donations. Funds are used to improve the lives of children like Joshua with brain tumours and post surgery disabilities, and hospitals have also benefited.

Dawn Fidler, mother of Joshua, said; "The kids had a great time and it was a really big party. We also had a visit from Greater Manchester Rock Choir who sang and the Village Hotel kindly donated the food for the barbecue."

She added: "August has been a hard month for me as it would have been Josh's birthday on August 10. It's been a bit of a tough time."
