Meat thief in bail condition breach

A SHOPLIFTER who breached his bail conditions has been handed a curfew.

Marc Bowers, aged 41, of Holden Avenue, Ramsbottom, stole £9 of meat from Morrisons in Ramsbottom on June 12 and then failed to surrender to custody on August 8 while on bail.

He admitted both offences to Bury magistrates last Thursday and was ordered to stay home from 7pm to 7am daily for two months.

M&S knitwear thief sent to jail

STEALING £350 of knitwear from Marks and Spencer in Bury proved to be one step too far for a shoplifter.

Peter O’Neill, aged 36, of Bell Lane, Bury, stole the knitwear last Thursday and admitted the offence to Bury magistrates on Friday.

He was jailed for six weeks on the basis he had a history of poor response to previous court orders handed down by the court.

O’Neill must also pay £260 court costs.

Man tagged for harrassment

A MAN must wear an electronic tag for three months after he admitted harassing a woman by phoning her at work and sending her unwanted text messages.

Aaron Crosby, aged 33, of Cameron Street, Bury, admitted the offence to Bury magistrates on July 20 that he harassed the woman by phoning her at work and sending her unwanted text messages between June 13 and June 30.

At a further hearing on August 11, he was previously given a 7pm until 7am curfew community order, which means he must say home from 7pm to 7am daily until November 10 and must pay £255 in fines and costs.

Driving ban

A YEAR-long driving ban is the penalty for a man who got behind the wheel after admitting being over the legal alcohol limit.

Stewart Mirfin, aged 34, who lives at Rutland Drive, Bury, committed the offence while driving a Ford Focus along Harris Street, in Bury, on June 20 this year.

He admitted the offence to Bury magistrates on Friday and was also ordered to pay £305 in fines and court costs.

Driver banned

A DRINK driver has been banned from getting behind the wheel for a year.

Cara James, aged 29, of Barchester Avenue, Bolton, drove a Fiat Punto in Manchester Road, Bury, on June 20, while over the legal alcohol limit and without insurance.

She admitted the offences to Bury magistrates on Friday and was also ordered to pay fines and court costs totalling £260.
