FAMILY and friends of local businesswoman Elaine Donaldson, who lost her fight against ovarian cancer a year ago, held a fundraising event on the first anniversary of her passing.
The Red Ball event, held at the Red Hall Hotel in Walmersley, raised more than £3,000 for Ovarian Cancer Action.
Around 90 guests attended and, in keeping with the theme of the event, dressed in red.
Organiser Cllr Yvonne Wright said "Elaine was a very special lady to many and we wanted to mark the anniversary by raising funds to help fund critical lifesaving research.
"It was a unique event which Elaine, who was the proprietor of 'Cheerz' Balloon and Fancy Dress business would have loved — a great fun atmosphere with guests wearing her favourite colour."
