A SUNNYBANK shop had to be evacuated after a shorted light fitting nearly sparked a blaze.
Firefighters were called to the One Stop in Sunnybank Road at 7.30pm on Tuesday (May 19).
A light fitting had shorted, with the temperature inside it rising to 150 degrees – close to the temperature which would have started a fire.
There was also a strong smell of burning in the shop because part of the plastic fitting had melted.
Firefighters identified the shorted light using a thermal imaging camera and made it safe.
