IT was anything but plain sailing for quiz fans who came up against some of television's top brains in a charity event at Elton Sailing Club.
Renowned boffins David Rainford, Barry Simmons and Pat Gibson, from BBC2's Eggheads, and Anne Hegerty, known as the Governess from ITV1's The Chase, joined in a quiz night on Friday, which raised £1,213 for Bury Hospice.
Organiser Heather Gordon said: "The night went really well and we managed to raise a lot of money for the hospice, which is a great cause.
"The Eggheads and the Chaser mixed really well with everyone and were very friendly with all of the participants.
"We auctioned off their services across the room between each round, which I think helped raise a lot more money as people became more competitive."
