A WOMAN suffered neck injuries after crashing her convertible car into the central reservation of the motorway.

The crash happened near junction 2 of the M66, between Bury and Ramsbottom at about 11.15am this morning.

The Mercedes CLK convertible is believed to have skidded on some water in the road and hit the central reservation, before spinning round to face the opposite way.

Fire crews and an ambulance were called to the scene and found the woman sitting on the side of the motorway holding her neck.

She was checked over but is not believed to have suffered any serious injuries.

The car was severely damaged in the incident.
