A RADCLIFFE businessman whose company has emerged as one of the town's biggest private employers certainly gave a good "account" of himself when he was visited by a Bank of England representative.

Phil Coppell, whose thriving conservatory and window supplies firm employs more than 110 staff, was visited by John Young, an agent for the Bank of England in the North West.

PCL (Phil Coppell Ltd), which has enjoyed phenomenal growth during the past five and a half years, is located at its £250,000 manufacturing plant in Cemetery Road.

The 40,000 sq ft premises have been operating since January of last year.

Managing director Mr Coppell has been the architect of the company's success since he originally established PCL as a one-man band in Stubbins in 2009. The business manufactures and sells replacement conservatory roofs and full new build conservatories and has 46 vehicles travelling nationwide. Mr Coppell is due to open a distribution centre in Chelmsford in the next few weeks.

This was the first visit to the company by the Bank of England which consults with businesses from a wide range of sectors and industries to gather information to input into its policy-making process.

During the discussion, Mr Coppell outlined how the business has expanded and its plans for further growth in terms of both turnover and employee numbers.
