A TEENAGE football starlet is preparing to make a dream move to play in the United States.

Hannah Alderson has secured a prestigious four-year scholarship to study at Calumet College in Chicago, where she will play for the Crimson Wave soccer team.

The 18-year-old is pictured signing her contract at Tottington High School, where she was head girl, alongside headteacher Brian Duffy, PE teacher Zoe Carter, and mum Donna.

She chose to put pen to paper at her old school after being asked to send a photograph to the college of her in a place which meant a lot to her and with people she felt had helped achieve her ambitions.

Hannah, who lives in Elton and currently studies at Holy Cross College, said she cannot wait to get started on her transatlantic adventure.

She said: "I am really excited at this great prospect and whilst I shall miss my family and friends I can't wait to start my new adventure.

"I really appreciate the support of my family but especially the guidance given to me by teachers at Tottington High School, especially Mrs Carter, which has enabled me to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity."

The teenager had several offers from different universities to choose from, but opted to take up the prestigious scholarship in Illinois, where she will move in July before commencing her studies later in the autumn.

Mrs Carter, Hannah’s former PE coach and mentor at Tottington High, added: "I am so proud of Hannah's achievement and have followed her successes, which are well deserved.

"She is the first person I know, and have taught, who has gained a prestigious scholarship in the States and I wish her every success in the future. I know she will do herself proud."
