A MAN who lay on the central reservation of the M60 near Heaton Park complaining of “back problems” has been taken to hospital.

Police received reports of a man lying in the central reservation of the anti-clockwise carriageway at Junction 19, at about 2.30am, but when officers arrived, he had got up.

The man was not arrested and was taken to hospital, and the motorway had to be closed for a time.

Another man in a taxi, which was caught up in a queue caused by the closure, then proceeded to get out of the vehicle and walk past two police officers who were removing the road block.

The 18-year-old was then arrested for being drunk and disorderly and for possession of cannabis, at about 4am, and received a police caution for both.
