A MAN with links to Bury accused of fraud offences against a 99-year-old man is being hunted by police after failing to appear in court.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of 24-year-old Martin Lawrence, who is charged with burglary, theft from person and two counts of fraud but failed to attend Manchester magistrates’ court on December 5.
In February, Lawrence allegedly stole the man’s phone after distracting him at his home in Worsley Road, Salford, by asking for a glass of lemonade.
He is also accused of returning on two other occasions and stealing cash.
Lawrence also has links to Salford and Cheetham Hill.
Detective Sergeant Roger Smethurst said: “Martin Lawrence is charged with some very serious fraud offences against an elderly, vulnerable man.
“He has failed to attend court and we are now appealing for the public’s help to locate him.
“If you have seen him or know where he is please get in touch.”
Anyone with information should call police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
