TWO dinner ladies who have cooked up treats in the kitchen for pupils at Bury Grammar School for a combined total of 50 years have been recognised for their hard work and dedication.

Teresa Perry started work at Bury Grammar School Girls in 1989 while Andrea Broadhurst began at Bury Grammar School Boys before moving across to the girls’ canteen, and have each notched up 25 years providing school meals.

Miss Perry, from Bury, said: “After 25 years service, I still love seeing the little ones come in for lunch. We have a little dance whilst they queue, especially when it is jelly for pudding! I have seen so many of them grow up. The girls I work with are great too!"

Mrs Broadhurst, from Radcliffe, added: “I was only meant to be here for five weeks, that was 25 years ago, but I still love my job.”

Headmistress Mrs Bobby Georghiou said: “It is lovely to recognise the contribution made by Teresa and Andrea. They both care about our pupils and help to make lunchtimes a happy and fulfilling time for them all.

“We all look forward to lunch; the food is delicious! It helps too that it is always served with a smile.”
