Final preparations are being put in place for the fourth annual Bury Light Night family fun extravaganza which takes place on Friday.

Eastern Delights is this year’s theme, with Bollywood dancing, storytelling, lights and music bringing the town centre alive through arts and culture.

Performances will be held at venues across the town - from The Met to the Mill Gate, The Rock to Castle Armoury and Bury Art Museum – from 6pm to 9pm against a backdrop of lit-up buildings.

Among the highlights will be:

• Band Baja – traditionally used at Asian weddings. They have performed all over the world, and for the likes of Danny Boyle and Jesse Jackson

• Illuminos will be projecting dramatic Eastern scenes onto the Castle Armoury and the Debenhams store on The Rock

• Excerpts from The Village’s panto Aladdin, at Lions Gardens in Crompton Street

• Rhia will performing live as a part of the projection at Debenhams

• Award-winning Chinese Lion display on Kay Gardens – and families can put on the costume and have a go.

• Kay Gardens, Library Gardens and the Parish Church Gardens are all being installed by Pa-Boom, with a lantern house, fire and water fountains and "hot heads", which are 1.5 metre high heads on fire.

• Giant lotus flower and crafts, at St John’s Gardens on The Rock.

There is also a large number of children’s events and performances, street entertainment, food and drink, and late-night shopping.

There will be temporary road closures and parking restrictions in the town centre during this event.
