VIDEO: Ramsbottom digestion plant opposition song is YouTube hit
A SONG which opposes the proposed anaerobic digestion plant in Ramsbottom has become a YouTube hit.
The tune entitled ‘Smellyman’ was penned by Biscuits with Moustaches, featuring Ramsbottom resident Paul Davies and Damien Heakin who oppose the development.
The lyrics state: “People have spoken and they say ‘no’. They don’t want your stink around here.”
Members of the Ramsbottom Against Waste Site group also protested against the plans by displaying posters and speaking to residents attending a consultation event held by Tamar Energy, who would run the site at Fletcher Bank Quarry.
A Tamar Energy spokesperson said: “While it was disappointing that none of the small group of protestors came in to our event, we had many useful conversations with local people and hopefully dispelled many of the myths and misunderstandings about the proposals and about anaerobic digestion (AD).”
The number of people who have formally opposed the plans is 628, and the proposals are set to be discussed by the council on October 15.
