Family tribute to van driver

THE grieving family of a 59-year-old Bury man who died after taking ill at the wheel of his van have paid tribute to him.

Father-of-three David Bond died in Fairfield Hospital last Thursday (March 7) following the incident which happened at Bolton Road North, Stubbins.

He had previously worked for British Gas before recently taking early retirement to spend quality time with his loved ones. He had also been involved in renovating his home.

In a tribute, his family said: “He was a popular and well respected man, well known for his dry sense of humour. Everyone appreciated that he had a heart of gold, giving freely of his time to help friends and family. This often involved one of his passions which was repairing cars.”

The funeral will be held at the East Lancashire Crematorium in Radcliffe next Wednesday (March 20) at 2pm.
