Woman dies in metal gate horror

A PENSIONER has died after a metal gate fell on her in what is being treated as a freak accident.
Police were called to Bury Old Road, near to Nursery Road, Whitefield, at 10.40am today following reports that a large metal gate had fallen on a woman.
Officers discovered a 68-year-old woman with severe head injuries. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
The scene was cordoned off all yesterday as an investigation into the incident got underway.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “At this time there are believed to be no suspicious circumstances.
"However Greater Manchester Police will be working alongside partner agencies to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the death.”
