THREE Whitefield schools have been closed today after people living nearby experienced were left without water.

Ribble Drive Primary School, Whitefield Primary School and St Michael’s Primary School have been shut and parents have been advised to look out for updates to check if things return to normal tomorrow.

A United Utilities spokesman said: "A leak on Ribble Drive has been spotted and was reported to us at 7.20am today.

"Our inspector has been to have a look and found this to be the cause for some of you having no water or just a trickle.

"We've got a team of engineers on the way to carry out the necessary work to get your taps flowing normally again."
