POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a large scale fight in Bury.

A number of men arrived in several vehicles to Birch Street, near the junction of Walmersley Road, between 11.40am and 11.50am, on Saturday, November 17.

The two groups of men, who were believed to be carrying weapons, are thought to have argued before a fight broke out between them.

There have been no reports of any injuries and no members of the public were injured.

It is unknown how many men were involved and the only description police have is that both groups were men.

The descriptions of the vehicles involved are a white transit van, a red and white flat bed with a cage on the back, a black Insignia and Toyota HILUX pickup.

Detective Constable Ian Smith from Bury CID said: “Details of what happened are very sketchy and all we know is that these men were involved in a large fight in broad daylight. We are unsure of the weapons involved but from what we have been told, we believe the men were holding something.

“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed what happened on Saturday morning or may have recognised someone who was involved to contact police as soon as possible. We believe a number of people would have seen the fight due to the time of day it took place. If you did we are keen to speak to you.”
