POLICE have released the picture of a man who assaulted an officer trying to arrest him in connection with a domestic violence offence.

Nicholas Lewis. aged 31, has not been seen since he managed to flee from the officer on November 11.

At about 11.30am, police were called to Windsor Avenue in Whitefield following reports of an assault on a 32-year-old woman.

Officers attended the scene, but Lewis resisted arrest and kicked out at the officer causing injury to the officer's leg.

He ran from police and his current whereabouts are unknown.

Lewis has links to Bury and the Newton Heath area of Manchester.

Detective Constable Martin Brown said: "Despite a number of enquiries to trace him, this man is still at large and poses a significant threat to other officers and members of the public.

"I would ask that if anyone sees this man, they do not approach him, but call police as soon as possible."
