A PARAGLIDER from Bury has died in a weekend tragedy in Yorkshire.
It is believed the man, who has not been named, fell around 50ft into rocks after launching from Buckstones Edge, Huddersfield, on Saturday. He died despite the efforts of emergency services and mountain rescue teams to save him.
In a statement yesterday (Mon), West Yorkshire Police said that emergency services were called to a report of a man injured in a paragliding incident at 2.15pm on Saturday.
It added: “A 52-year-old man from Bury was reported dead at the scene. His family have been notified and the coroner made aware. Officers are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident."
