THE UK Independence Party (UKIP) has selected Steve Evans to fight the Bury North seat at the general election.
Mr Evans aged 58, right, of Blackford Avenue, has lived in the town for 45 years and is married with one son and three grandchildren.
He has worked for a car accessory manufacturer and importer for 24 years and is a sales manager.
He joined UKIP in 2008 after deciding “there had to be a better way.” He said: “I believe the British people deserve a fair deal which can only happen when we are in charge of our own destiny and have real people, not puppets, in Parliament.
“I also believe in freedom of choice and education, not legislation.
“I am very much against any form of bullying, whether it be in the playground or Westminster.”
Despite his job, Mr Evans said he has made time to campaign against the congestion charge and supported the fuel protests.
His interests include table tennis, football and snooker.
