TV Vicki at cafe launch

A TV star helped usher in a new name for a Bury tearoom.

Bury actress Vicki Binns, who plays Molly Dobbs in Coronation Street, was the special guest at a rebranding ceremony on Sunday.

She cut the ribbon to highlight the renaming of Chocoholics in Minden Parade to Leckenby’s.

The business, which has been operating for 12 years, is run by Tony Cunningham, daughter Melanie and Jean Leckenby.

The owners have decided on the name change to pave the way towards other Leckenby’s franchises.

Tony Cunningham said: “We were unable to trademark Chocoholics. We’ve changed the name to Leckenby’s so that we are able to market it. We felt that the best way to take the business forward was through franchising.

“We hope we can extend the brand to other towns, with other people running Leckenby’s on our behalf.”
